The Brecon Beacons

The Brecon Beacons National Park was established in 1957 and covers an area of some 519 square miles. The Park is mostly grassland and is grazed by Welsh Mountain Ponies and Sheep. It also has a number of reservoirs and waterfalls. The area is ideal for walking, camping, cycling, horse riding, fishing and mountain climbing and due to its remoteness there are also a number of Mountain Rescue stations based at various places around the mountains
